Proposed Ordinance to Amend Ordinance #161-01-23
Notice of Adoption
Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township adopted amendments to the Bruce Township Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance 161) at its regular meeting of Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
The amendments were as follows:
- Amendment to Section 161-3.8 and 161-3.9, to add a new item I to each section with the following language: “Dedicated sales offices are not permitted.”
- Amendment to Section 3.1.13, item C.5 to modify the manner in which banquet halls are permitted in the C-2 district, and the addition of new Section 4.48 to provide regulations for the same.
A complete copy of the amendments may be examined at Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065, during the Township’s regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM. These ordinances shall be effective seven days following publication.

Notice of Tree Preservation Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 beginning at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on amendments to the Township’s Tree Preservation regulations (Section 5.20 Preservation of Wooded Areas). The amendments establish new thresholds for requiring replacement of removed trees and prohibitions on clear-cutting without replacement.
A complete copy of the amendment may be examined at Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065, prior to the public hearing, during the Township’s regular business hours, Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM through 4:30 PM and Thursday, 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM. Written comments may be addressed to the Planning Commission at the Township Hall address. Oral comments will be taken during the hearing on January 4, 2023.

Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 beginning at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on a request for special land use approval submitted by Chau Smith. The applicant is seeking a special land use approval to permit a banquet/meeting room space in one storefront of the shopping center at 70941 Van Dyke, which is zoned C-2 Commercial (parcel ID 14-01-34-203-004).
