Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 beginning at 6:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on amendments to the zoning ordinance:
- Consolidation of the P-I Planned Industrial and I-R-O Industrial Research Office districts into a single district called I-R-O Industrial Research Office and placed in Section 161-3.1.17. The three parcels currently zoned P-I (01-23-300-006, 01-23-300-015, and 01-23-300-012) will retain their zoning under the new I-R-O district name.
- Changing the name of the M-1 Light Manufacturing district to LI-1 Light Industrial District in Section 161-3.1.16.
- Streamlining and revising the lists of permitted uses in both the I-R-O and LI-1 districts (Sections 3.1.15 and 161-3.1.16), and defining in Section 2.2 the terms “light industrial,” industrial park,” “heavy industrial,” “professional office,” “medical office,” and “household recycling facility.”
- Updating the intent statements for the I-R-O and LI-1 districts.
- Changing the validity period of site plan approval in Section 161-6.1 from one year to two years.
A complete copy of the amendments may be examined at Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065, prior to the public hearing, during the Township’s regular business hours, Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM through 4:30 PM and Thursday, 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM. Written comments may be addressed to the Planning Commission at the Township Hall address. Oral comments will be taken during the hearing on June 5, 2024.
